What's new in WWDC 2019!

This month started with loads of excitement for all the Apple Developers. From MacOS to WatchOS, every platform got some major updates and some incredible features for developers and customers.

First, The kind of "new" iPad OS

So, we developers saw this coming when features on iPads were starting to get a lot different than that on iPhones. The screen size, the way users interact with iPads and the way it was integrated in UIKit framework was all hinting from a long time that something was just not in place. And with the new iPadOS been introduced; it's very clear now the iPads are going to be a totally different platform and a unique way to interact with the digital work.

Expected Release, iOS 13

We all know that every year WWDC releases a new version of its flagship operating system for iPhone. And this year was no different. Apps now are packed with features and improvements and taking phones to the next level of performance. Apps loading at upto 2 times faster speed. And apps taking less space. And general performance and optimisation improvements. And everything else that was expected from apple.

But then comes the much awaited feature! iOS 13 introduces Dark Mode. Now if you are a developer, then Dark Mode is just a requirement for you and you may be just a lover of the dark UI. So you exactly know it's a big deal. If you are a general user, then note this; in dark mode, your OLED screen iPhone X and later phones can save a lot of battery life. Sometimes even a few hours extra. And basically Dark UI is just cool!

The Monster, new Mac PRO

It's upgradable, it's configurable, it's a monster, And it's a Mac! Well we sure can debate about the pricing and the specifications. But, boy it's a majestic piece of hardware that was dew from Apple for a decade now. It had power that was way beyond what was expected and more importantly it was still beautifully Apple. An elegant piece of tech.

LAst & The Most Important Update

SwiftUI. The new framework from Apple for developing app on all platforms. Be it MacOS or iPadOS or iOS; you can develop apps for everything through SwiftUI. It's declarative, it's powerful and it's completely new way to develop apps. The learning curve on this can be a little steep if you are used to the UIKit and AppKit frameworks. But it's a big leap ahead.

A lot can be discussed about the SwiftUI framework. And for further updates, stay tunes to this blog...!
